Emily | Social Media Coordinator at MTV and Spike

Hi, I’m Emily, 22 years old. I graduated Creative Business at the HU last January and currently working as a Social Media Coordinator at MTV and Spike Benelux (Viacom International Media Networks).⠀
I really enjoyed my years of studying at Creative Business. We touched upon many subjects in different sectors, but I’ve always had a strong passion for writing and media since I was very young. As a child, I loved to write little stories and as a teenager, I had a fashion blog. During my study abroad in Madrid, I used my personal Instagram account as a social media experiment, and I think that all brought me to where I am today. ⠀
⠀
So, when it was time to apply for an internship, I immediately knew the Social Media and Web internship at MTV Benelux was the one for me. I wrote a very confident and convincing message and during my first meeting with my now manager, we immediately bonded over our shared love for pop-culture and out-of-the-box thinking. After my official internship period ended, I was invited to stay as a freelancer whilst I finished my studies and by the time I graduated they created a full-time job for me so I could stay with the company because they ‘weren’t ready to let me go’ haha. I wanted nothing more so for 4 months now I’m an official Social Media Coordinator for MTV and Spike Benelux. Which means I support the managers and help guide the interns. Mostly, I help with strategy development, write up posts, do work on the website and create new engaging concepts. ⠀
⠀
Now I’m almost hitting my 2-year mark at Viacom Benelux and have become very versatile in those years since I’ve worked every aspect of the job. I just wrapped up the third season of ‘Ex on the Beach: Double Dutch’ that I’ve worked on, did two full ‘MTV EMA’ projects, helped launch a new local production for Spike, became familiar with ‘Bellator MMA’ and so much more!”

And frankly, every day I do or learn something new. I’ve done red carpet reports for so many cool events, did my hair in a conference room whilst working on last-minute preparations for those events, worked late hours to do a live coverage of the MTV EMA’s, been to the most EPIC parties and worked with the most inspiring people. That’s some of the many reasons why I love my job.

If you have any questions feel free to reach out to me.”
