Wanted: Sustainable mastermind at Green Office HU

Do you have a passion for sustainability and do you want to contribute to the promotion of social, economic and ecological sustainability at Hogeschool Utrecht? Then come and be part of Green Office HU and work together with a young and entrepreneurial team of six student assistants!

Two teams each have two vacancies at the Green Office, namely “Communication and Visibility” and “Community and Projects”.

As a teaching institution, Hogeschool Utrecht contributes to the development of society. The HU does not consider sustainability as a choice, but as a necessity and a social duty for the next generations. A future-proof world is one of these responsibilities. Today’s students must shape our future. That future can only be based on sustainable development (contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals). That is why the HU places sustainable development at the center of its education, research and operations. Green Office is the engine for this development and will inform the HU community about sustainability, engage in activities and encourage sustainable behavior.

As a Green Office member you are:

  • A HU student or you have recently graduated.
  • Flexible available for around 8 hours a week
  • Initiative, flexible and creative
  • Intrinsically motivated about sustainability
  • Both Dutch and English speaking

    We are looking for candidates within the following fields:

Sub-team Communication:

The communication sub-team is responsible for all external communication regarding the Green Office. Within this sub-team we are looking for a colleague with experience in graphic design and for someone with a passion for social media management.

Designer (0.2 FTE / 8 hours a week)
As a designer within the Green Office HU you are expected to have experience with designing promotional material. Both video and written media are part of this. Experience in photoshop/indesign is a requirement, experience with video editing software is an advantage. You are creative with a pen and not afraid to deliver promotional material in a short period of time.

Your duties will consist of the weekly design of posters, merchandise, writing a newsletter and videos.

Content editor (0.2 FTE / 8 hours a week)
As a social media expert you are responsible for keeping track of all social channels and increasing the (online) reach on behalf of the Green Office. You have an active attitude, you are not afraid to stand in front of the camera and you like to be in contact with online supporters.

Your duties will mainly consist of devising online campaigns, filming the Meatless Monday and maintaining the social media channels of the Green Office (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and the website).

Sub-team Community and Projects:

The Community and projects sub-team organizes activities in and around the Hogeschool to bring students and employees in contact with the sustainability concept. This team is also the point of contact for the volunteers of the Green Office. Within the Community and Projects team we are looking for a project coordinator and volunteer representative.

Project coordinator (0.2 FTE / 8 hours a week)
As a project coordinator you ensure that all events for which the Green Office is present and / or responsible goes smoothly. Think of workshops, congresses, café evenings and the UIT-week. You are organized, you like to come up with creative ideas to bring people into contact with the concept of sustainability and you can represent the Green Office in a positive way on occasions.

In addition, you and your team mate ensure that a lively network of both students and employees is created around the theme of sustainability.

Volunteer representative (0.2 FTE / 8 hours a week)
As a representative of the volunteers, it will be your task to set up and maintain a permanent volunteer platform. In addition, the goal is to recruit more volunteers, preferably for a longer period. As a representative you are not afraid to approach people, have good communication skills and a positive attitude.

In addition, you and your team mate ensure that a lively network of both students and employees is created around the theme of sustainability.

All positions relate to appointments as a student assistant of (on average) eight hours a week via Campus Recruitment. You commit yourself for a minimum of one year; extension is desirable. The start date is preferably early June; location is Utrecht Uithof. The reimbursement concerns the standard rate for student assistants.
