On Wednesday, July 5, Utrecht University will host a program on research on the history of slavery and its carryover to the present.
The meeting will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Janskerkhof 3, Utrecht. Students, staff and representatives of the Surinamese-Caribbean community will discuss research on slavery at Utrecht University, contemporary effects of the slavery past and what we as a university should do to address these effects. Students will show the results of their research through poster presentations.
Dr. Joyce Sylvester, chair of the State Commission Against Discrimination and Racism will give the introductory lecture. Discussions will be led by Migaisa Poeketi, vice president Keti Koti 030.
Black Harmony will provide the musical contribution.
