'POLARISATION IN THE 21ST CENTURY' WHERE DO YOU STAND?
We would like to invite you to the Polarization Symposium with none other than Sinan Can, journalist and program maker for VARA’s Zembla, among others. Together we will discuss Polarization in the 21st century and our positions in it.
Society is polarizing. Contradictions are becoming increasingly sharp, and people are regularly diametrically opposed to each other. Tolerating ‘the other’ is sometimes hard to find.
Even within the HU, emotions sometimes run high. When a teacher encounters resistance when sensitive issues are discussed or when students spontaneously find themselves in a heated conversation. There are also more subtle forms, for example when one silently ‘goes out of contact’, one no longer wishes to connect, or silently condemns another.
The key to connecting and tolerance is to create a safe pedagogical climate. Where people can exchange ideas and express their feelings thanks to open and critical dialogue.
How do we achieve this and how do we make HU a safe place where everyone feels at home? Come and talk to us!
