Warmetruiendag is an event that takes place nationally every year. With their motto “heat yourself, not the world” they try to activate more people every year to participate in this national event where the heating goes down a few degrees nationwide. In recent years, they have been able to get more than 2 million participants to lower the heating by a few degrees on this day. How does lowering the heating contribute to sustainability? Decreasing the heating with 1 degree means that you already have 6% less CO2 emissions. Hogeschool Utrecht has been participating in this event for a number of years by going down 1 degree.
