Gender Equality Plan
As is apparent from the European Gender Equality Strategy for the period 2020-2025, the European Commission considers additional efforts to be necessary to achieve gender equality within the European sector for research and innovation, including universities of applied sciences. This extra effort is given shape, among other things, by asking research institutions to draw up a gender equality plan. In such a plan, the institutions indicate what they are doing to be an inclusive organization and to promote equality.
The Executive Board of Hogeschool Utrecht considers gender equality to be of great importance and does not accept discrimination on the grounds of gender or any other ground. By gender equality, we mean a balance and equal treatment in the ratio of men to women among our employees at all levels in the organisation. We consider gender equality as part of our ideas about diversity and inclusion. Hogeschool Utrecht actively facilitates the path to equality, diversity, and inclusion. We do this, among other things, by organizing capacity on the theme of diversity and inclusion. HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht has employed a Diversity Officer since 2021 and maintains a Diversity and Inclusion Network in which employees and students participate.
In 2022, Hogeschool Utrecht will publish a total vision and policy ambitions for diversity and inclusion, in which the theme of gender equality is an integral part. The policy, activities, workshops, and events resulting from this overall vision will be available on the Diversity and Inclusion website. In addition, HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht provides schemes and training offerings that help create a good work-life balance, break through prejudices, and create a safe working environment.
