ESSENCE: European Sustainable Solutions for Existing and New City Environments

Purpose: to promote the development of sustainable cities through international cooperation.

ESSENCE is working on this through three main lines:

  • An international, interdisciplinary curriculum is developed;
  • Students work on practical solutions for issues concerning sustainability in the urban environment on behalf of three local governments;
  • New teaching methods are studied and applied in order to achieve best practices for using MOOC,   e-learning and blended learning.

Five European higher education institutions from the CARPE-network and three Cities work together in Essence as part of an Erasmus KA2 project. More about Erasmus+.
