Dealing with fear of failure (performance anxiety) and stress Kopiëren

You may well suffer from stress and fear of failure (performance anxiety) while studying. If this is the case, you may experience tension or anxiety during day to day life or as soon as you have to perform. A little stress or anxiety is quite normal but sometimes it takes over and it may influence your general welfare or your results. Below some tips and what the HU can do for you if you suffer from stress and fear of failure (performance anxiety).

Consult your Study Career Coach/Team Learning Coach

Stress and fear of failure (performance anxiety) can be set off for different reasons. It makes sense to meet up with your Study Career Coach/Team Learning Coach if you are troubled by this. You can discuss what to do and how the HU can help you.

Stress Management Training

The Student Support Centre offers a Stress management training in English: How about stress: A training to learn more about stress and how you can deal with it. You learn to understand mechanisms of stress and are encouraged to take steps to work on selfcare to prevent yourself from getting to much stress. If you would like to study with more focus and energy, and to become smarter in dealing with stress, the training Mindfulness might also be interesting for you.

Student Psychologist

The Study Career Coach/Team Learning Coach can refer you to the Student Counsellor, who, in turn, can refer you to the Student Psychologist. You will be invited for an intake which may result in the Student Psychologist advising you to start treatment or if needed, to do the Fear of Failure (Performance Anxiety) Workshops developed by the HU Student Psychologists.
