Lectures can be streamed live from the HU. This means that students can watch the lectures live. The image and sound quality is high. The live stream will also be recorded. Afterwards, the recording is available within Canvas.

Important to know:
- You can only do a livestream between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM on PL101
- The room where you are streaming can be changed
Request a livestream
Do you want to stream your lecture live from the HU? Please ALWAYS submit an application via the application form. Make sure that you select a live stream. Also be sure to provide the speaker’s mobile number so that we can contact them in the event of a malfunction.
PLEASE NOTE: without a request form – or renewed confirmation of a previous request – you will NOT be able to access the buildings. For the time being, you can only livestream scheduled lessons, provided you have submitted an application.
An application must be received before 14:00 (2 PM) two days before your scheduled class.
Method
This recording and support is done remotely, as a teacher you will be alone in the classroom. Are you running into problems? Please call HUvideo: 088-481 2220.
Keep in mind, these live streams are delayed by 30 seconds.
Some recommendations:
- Use Microsoft Teams or Canvas so students can ask questions during the live stream. If necessary, ask one or two students to act as a moderator.
- Do not wear fine striped clothing while recording. This gives a disturbance in the picture.
- Do not dim the room light or only slightly. Too little light gives an underexposed image or makes filming virtually impossible.
- Don’t walk back and forth too much. You have a chance of walking out of the picture frame.
- Look into the camera hanging in the ceiling.
MICROPHONE
In the lecture halls, a fixed microphone will be attached to the lectern. This captures the audio well up to about 2 meters away.
LIVESTREAM
After submitting your request, you will receive a confirmation containing all the necessary information. Only then will the request be fully completed.
A livestream will always be started fifteen minutes prior the actual start, but can only be followed live at the moment of scheduled start.

CANCELLATION:
The applicant is responsible for communicating cancellations, even if the applicant is not the speaker. An online lecture recording must be canceled immediately at the time of change by the applicant.
Receiving the recording
New recordings of lectures are published in the media environment of the HU: the Media Asset Management (MAM). This means that the recording is also available within Canvas, through the HUvideo button. The recording will be processed as soon as possible. This can take up to five business days. The applicant will automatically receive a message as soon as the recording has been processed.
