Did I had to submit my top 3 immediately on March 13 to increase my chances of being selected for my preferred minor?
No, you didn’t have to. It is not first come, first serve. You have until Friday, March 20th, to submit your top 3. The draw is on April 9th.
What should I consider when compiling my top 3?
You list your top 3 based on most favorite minor (1) to least favorite minor (3).
By listing three minors, you increase your chances of being selected for a minor you really want to take. It is not mandatory to list three choices, but listing only one minor does not increase your chances of being selected for that minor. It may even reduce your chances of being selected if that minor has more demand than supply.
Carefully check the admission requirements of the minors themselves and whether they are permitted by your examination board. It is possible that the minor of your choice overlaps too much with your bachelor’s programme.
The draw applies to all periods (AB, CD, and Lint). You can therefore also list different periods in your top 3 if your study schedule allows it. List your top 3 in order from most favorite to least favorite in Osiris and check that you have the correct period listed for each minor.
It is possible to include two periods of the same minor in your top 3 (for example, AB at 1 and CD at 2). In doing so, you are essentially listing only one minor choice. This has both an advantage and a disadvantage: if your favorite minor is popular, you spread your chances this way, but you give up a chance to be enrolled in another minor.
How do I know that my pre-enrolment has been successfully processed?
You will receive a confirmation email regarding the top 3/pre-enrolment in your student email. This serves as proof that the pre-enrolment was successful. You can find your submitted top three in Osiris under Enrol > Show my enrolments > My enrolments.
I would like to change the order of my top 3. Is this possible?
Adjusting your top 3 is only possible between March 13 and March 20 via My Enrolments in Osiris. After March 20, you will no longer be able to make any changes. After the draw, you can only adjust your enrolment starting Monday, April 13, when enrolment opens for the minors that still have spots available after the draw. From that moment on, you can monitor Osiris to see if spots become available in the minors, but this does not guarantee a spot in the minor you originally wanted to take.
I am too late to submit my preferences. Is there still a possibility to do so?
No, the deadline really was Friday, March 20. Starting Monday, April 13, you can enrol yourself in Osiris for a minor (AB, CD, and Lint) that still has available spots. Please note: you can monitor Osiris from that moment on to see if spots become available in the minors, but this does not guarantee a place in the minor you originally wanted to take. If I plan to do a minor outside the HU, do I also need to participate in the pre-enrolment?
You can do this if you have doubts about whether you might want to take a minor at HU after all, but withdraw from one of the two once you have made a choice. Otherwise, you will be occupying a spot that a student could use, and the minor contact person will expect you to attend the minor.
