Niet toegestane minoren (Not allowed minor courses)

Voor de invulling van je profileringsruimte is vooraf goedkeuring van de examencommissie van je opleiding nodig. De examencommissie kijkt namelijk of de minor van jouw keuze van hbo-niveau is en of er geen onacceptabele overlap is met het verplichte curriculum van je eigen opleiding.

De examencommissie heeft van enkele minoren die in studiejaar 2024-2025 worden aangeboden al vastgesteld dat deze geen hbo-niveau hebben en/of een onacceptabele overlap hebben met het verplichte curriculum van je eigen opleiding. Kijk hieronder bij jouw instituut welke minoren door de examencommissie zijn afgekeurd wegens geen hbo-niveau en/of onacceptabele overlap met het verplichte curriculum.

Verzoeken tot het invullen van je profileringsruimte met deze minoren zullen om die reden door de examencommissie ook worden afgewezen. Niet mee eens? Verzoeken aan de examencommissie dien je in via HUKAS. Informatie over het indienen van een verzoek bij een examencommissie is daarnaast ook opgenomen in de studiegids van je opleiding en daarnaast te vinden op Ask HU.

Prior approval of the Examination Board of your study program is required to fill in your profile space. The Examination Board will check whether the minor of your choice is of HBO level and whether there is no unacceptable overlap with the compulsory curriculum of your own study programme.

The Examination Board has already determined that some minors in academic year 2024-2025 do not have a higher professional education level and/or have an unacceptable overlap with the compulsory curriculum of your own study programme. Check below at your institute which minors have been rejected by the Examination Board because of no HBO level and/or unacceptable overlap with the compulsory curriculum.

Requests to fill in your profile space with these minors will therefore also be rejected by the Examination Board. Do not agree with? Requests for the Examination Board can be submitted via HUKAS. Information about submitting a request for an Examination Board is also included in the study guide for your study program and can also be found on Ask HU.

Institute for International Business Studies

All HU minors are rejected, since all IB students need to go abroad for their study abroad. This abroad requirement is mandatory.

Only the minor Doing Business in China is allowed for IB students, since this minor is abroad and fulfills the abroad requirements.

International students 

Only international students who lived for more than half of their lives abroad are exempted for the minor abroad requirement. International students can do their minor in the Netherlands. The requirement for these minors are:

1. the minor needs to be English taught;
2. the minor can not have overlap in content with the IB programme.

Based on overlap, the following minors are NOT allowed:

  • English Language and Culture

For former IBMS students (MBIB- exam package), two extra minors are also NOT allowed, namely:

  • Business Management Analytics
  • Treasury management – English (this course is not allowed for IBMS students with the specialization IFIN).

International students can enroll themselves via Osiris from 15 – 22 March for an English minor. After 22 March, Osiris will be closed again and registration for a minor is only possible via a request to the Examination Board (HUKAS).

Non-international students

For non-international students the study abroad is mandatory and if they register for a HU minor, they will be deregistered by the Examination Board.

When non-international students want an exemption for the abroad requirement based on personal circumstances, they first need the support of the directors of IB. When the directors of IB support their request, they can contact the Examination Board (HUKAS) for minor registration in Osiris. Please note: support from the directors is mandatory for these requests.

For ORM students from cohort 2017 and earlier the following agreements apply: For all minors you always ask your mentor and the exam board for permission. The mentor will pay attention to the hbo-level of your minor and if there is no overlap with your major.
