Study Abroad

• You can go abroad during your minor
• During your 3rd study year you can go abroad

Criteria and Selection

• First year certificate
• Average grade and/or minimum amount of ECTS required per year
• Approval of the exam board and/or intake coordinator/study abroad coordinator

How to apply for the Holland Scholarship or the IvC grant:

Both the Holland Scholar Ship (€1.250) and the IvC grant (€500) are available for study or internships outside of Europe.
To be applicable for the grants, there are three requirements which you need to fulfill:

1. The internship must be at least for seven weeks and be approved of by your degree programme;
2. It represents a study load of min. 10 EC’s;
3. Every students can only receive a Holland Scholarship once;
   There is an extra requirement in case of the Holland Scholarship:
4. The application form needs to be submitted before January 20th of the studyyear that you go abroad. The time of departure can be later than this date, but has to be before the start of a new study year.

The application form for both the Holland Scholarship and the IvC Grant is available on request at grants-ivc@hu.nl
In case you would like to apply for this grant, please fill out the application form completely and accurately, collect the required signatures and proof (of income and expenditures specifically and exclusively related to this internship). We also would like to receive a motivation letter.
Once everything is complete, please send the form together with all enclosures to grants-ivc@hu.nl

Holland Scholarships are awarded on the base of the following criteria:

1. Quality and content of your motivation letter
2. Extracurricular and/or social activities
3. Will this experience contribute to the student’s development
4. Financial overview in the application form

There are only a limited number of Holland Scholarships available; in case you are not eligible for the HSS we will change your application from HSS to our own IvC Grant (max. € 500). In that case you will be notified.
We will let you know if you received a grant within six weeks.
You can only be awarded one of our grants for internship outside of Europe once during your study period at HU.
